In New Mexico...
community that is frozen in time But somehow it’s shifting, stretching, sometimes cracking under the pressure of becoming something new.
Yeah, they got problems.
Growing pains.
Big-city energy pushing up against old ways and traditions. Generations learning how to share the same ground without losing themselves in the process.
Learning – sometimes the hard way to use words over violence, conversation over corners, new definitions over old limits.
And still, She has a foundation to expand on.
It’s authentic.
Genuine. Transparent. Honest.
Acoma Pueblo is a blueprint.
Before the name Native Americans, She was maintained and respected by Ancient Indian Tribes, then discovered by the Spanish, Native Mexicans and Americans.
From kitchens and classrooms, from faith, work, struggle, and survival.
Strong enough to carry the weight of the present and the future as She evolve and grow.
This land has been tested by drought and fire, by flood and fault lines, by history and by human hands.
Out here, they don’t erase the past to make room for the future.
They build on it; as a Community with a proud identity.
