The Vlog

Your story belongs here

Everyday people, filming the places and the people they know. Here is exactly how it works and what we need from you.

How it works

  1. 1You

    Email us

Your name, your city, and what you want to film. Three or four sentences is plenty.

  2. 2Us

    We write back

We will tell you whether it fits, and help you narrow it down to one clear story.

  3. 3You

    Film it on your phone

Hold still, get close enough that the sound is clean, and ask people before you film them.

  4. 4Us

    We watch it with you

We check the facts and flag anything that would be unfair to someone in it. You get to fix it before anyone sees it.

  5. 5Us

    We put it up

It goes on this page under your name. Good ones also run at our events and in the magazine.

What you need

  • A phone camera

Anything from the last few years is fine.

  • A quiet spot

Bad sound loses people faster than bad picture does.

  • Permission

Ask anyone you film. A yes on camera counts.

Make it yourself

We publish work made by people. Do not send writing or video that was generated by AI. If you used a tool to transcribe an interview or clean up your spelling, that is fine, just tell us when you send it.

Every vlog belongs to one of these

The same nine chapters the magazine runs. Pick the one your story sits in.

  1. 1Community & Identity
  2. 2Values & Beliefs
  3. 3Religion & Spirituality
  4. 4Language
  5. 5Symbols & Artifacts
  6. 6Arts & Expressions
  7. 7Fashion & Style
  8. 8Foodie for Thought
  9. 9Kintsugi
